Community Poetry Exchange Session: Reflections Among the Weavers of Words

On Saturday, September 26th, a myriad of talented poets, writers, and lovers of artistic expression gathered at our Ideation Lab for an evening of poetry, reflection, and connection.

Not long after everyone settled in, ideas began to flow, carried by a current of thoughts, emotions, and aspirations. The session was held in collaboration with our creative friends at Dubai Ramblers, whose growing community continues to cultivate a deep appreciation for the arts and creative expression.

At the heart of this lovely evening was a simple yet meaningful idea: exchanging poetry anonymously. Participants were given pieces written by others in the room and invited to read them aloud, reflect on what they felt, and share their interpretations without initially knowing who had written the piece. Only afterwards were the writers revealed, along with the stories and emotions behind their words.

This exchange created a beautiful space for connection. Through one another’s poetry, participants found reflections of their own experiences, feelings, and aspirations. For many, it offered a welcome pause from the weight of everyday routines; the long working hours, responsibilities, and obligations that can sometimes leave little room for expressing what we carry within.

Here, they could rest their wings, set down some of those burdens, and simply be heard by people who shared their appreciation for words.

Perhaps the most heartwarming part was seeing some participants write and share their work for the first time in their lives. Encouraged by their peers, who were genuinely moved by the eloquence and beauty of their pieces, they found the confidence to continue writing and to pursue a new form of the creative journey they had only just begun.

And this, ultimately, is what gives these sessions their true soul. Success is not simply measured by what happens during the session, but by what participants carry with them afterwards: a little more confidence, determination, and the feeling that their voices have a place to belong.

Through the Ideation Lab, we aspire to create exactly that; a space where people can bring their ideas, emotions, and imagination freely; a safe haven where they can find their people, feel at ease, and perhaps even discover a place they can call home.
